Becoming a Vocal Survivor of Child Abuse

Updated: Jan 10, 2023

God gives us all spiritual gifts. Some people are great at talking, some teaching, some preaching. Well mine has always been helping/serving. (1 Corinthians 12:7)

I have always had a deep desire to help others. I was not sure how I would help people, but I knew that if God spoke it into my heart... that one day it WOULD happen. His timing is always perfect, and I knew that I just needed to be patient.

Then 2018 came. That was the year that my little family lost everything. Hurricane Florence slowly moved through, and in the process flooded/destroyed my house with everything that was inside. That was a difficult season in my life, and my husband's. We were essentially homeless, however; with the support of our family and friends we were able to rebuild. After the hurricane I realized just how fast life could change, and how important it was to live life without fear. That was when a revelation hit me, "My story could really help some people. What better way to share it than through YouTube?"

I had been hiding a family secret for 27 years, a secret that ate at my soul every day of my life. Until, God told me that it was time to let it out. I decided to share my childhood secret with the world on YouTube, initially because I felt like God wanted me too. Then, to let other child abuse victims know that they were not alone. I TRULY believed that my story could help someone else... and it did!

By posting my child abuse story on YouTube it started a revolution in my own life. In a way that video liberated me from 27 years of trauma. I became more open about my struggles with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Anxiety, and Depression. I started openly talking about my experiences with my friends, close family members, and other survivors. From my new found freedom, I began to encourage other people to become

Vocal Survivors. (It never crossed my mind that one day I would own an organization called the very thing I had become, a Vocal Survivor.) I went from a victim to a survivor with the simple use of my voice! I was freed.

I then wanted other victims to understand the liberating feeling of being a Vocal Survivor.

Initially, I started Vocal Survivors as a way for people to share their story's with one another, and to heal from their past traumas.

Now, Vocal Survivors is more focused on physically helping victims simply survive their circumstances. My team and I want to give hurting people physical comfort through the creation of care packages. EVERYONE is surviving something, and we are here to help aid in that journey. My team and I just want to help people, because that is what God has called us to do.

All for His glory. (1Corinthians 10:31)
